"Life is porous, all living things are porous.
The clay I work with , my feelings, all hold this same truth.
Porous sounds fragile. But porosity, also allows us to take in and then, if we choose and sometimes even if we don’t, to hold within ourselves.
Porous can be powerful. It allows for flow, the crossing of barriers.
Light through the clouds, rain through the soil, carbon dioxide into leaf, feelings to be absorbed, transformations to occur.
Beetles and moths are porous. They’ve also been my inspiration for some years now. I want to celebrate them and their beauty and I want to draw peoples attention to them. They matter terribly. The role they play in our ecosystems is of course, vital. They are part of a living web on which we depend. "
The exhibition OPENS Saturday 16 August and runs until Saturday 13 September.
